After 15 hours of non-medicated labor Rachel Carolyn was born on 11/23/07 at 6 lbs 12oz and 20.5 inches long. I don't know how I got through without pain meds but I'm so happy that I did it. It was a long and painful experience but it was so worth it in the end. I can't believe I'm a mommy now! I feel so blessed that the birth went well and that she is a happy and healthy baby girl.
I am so glad to be home too after being in the hospital for 3 days it was a whirlwind. Nurses coming and going, so much information to take in, not to mention the pain. My postpartum was not fun but Richard, Mom and family kept encouraging me, saying I was doing a great job. The most difficult part was not being able to get the breastfeeding going. I cried when the nurse had to give her a bottle but we just couldn't get it. Finally after a few days of being home my milk supply came in and we have got breastfeeding down now. This was so much harder than I expected, especially after hearing women talk about how natural and easy it was. I read and read all about it but until you actually experience it, I think it's hard to comprehend.
There were so many emotions I had when I was leaving the hospital and the first few days of being home. I am now responsible for a human being and can't believe that I am a parent. It's still feels surreal but at the same time feels so natural to care for a innocent little baby. She is sweet and precious and a very good baby. She's mommy's little treasure, one that I will love forever.
