(Silver Falls)

(The gondola at the ski resort)

(Mount Rainier)
(Mount Rainier National Park entrance)
Richard and I went on our first vacation away from both kids. My mother-in-law came from OK to stay with the kids at our house. They did great but definitely didn't give grandma a break. They were not good at naps and woke up very early, like 5am one time! For us we had a wonderful time in Mount Rainier National Park the first two days of our trip. We hiked up the mountain for as far as we could go before we had to turn around on one trail because of the snow. It was cold, around 40 degrees in the morning but warmed up to about 60 by the afternoon. We also went to a ski resort which just ended their winter season 2 weeks ago, to ride a gondola up the mountain. I was a little scared because we went really way up there, about 6800 feet. I have to say the views were breathtaking. We were so high that you could see the clouds floating by! It almost looks fake in the photos but it was definitely real.
I will post Part 2 of our stay in downtown Seattle.
